and many many many many...
of all the things I do to annoy myself (and there are many) one of them is not keeping in touch. and I don't know if y'all have noticed, but I've been incommunicado for months now. i'm not even gonna lie... I wasn't able to tour this fall for the first time since I graduated from Western three years ago. it was a tough decision, because the last three autumnal seasons it wasn't even a decision. I just did it. another thing I do is think too much. so I thought too much about it and decided it might be tough to go out on the road and make it worth the time. My trooper Taurus has been with me since the first tour, and is still with me, but it's starting to struggle now with the cold and I just have no idea how many more miles she can take me. also, I really don't know for sure the gender of my car. since I ride it, then I just assume it;s a girl. so the car has about 140,000 miles on it now and it needs some things to help me to feel safe about taking it back to colorado, or texas or florida. one thing that is bittersweet about TX, is in my last two visits to college station, the shows have always been tight, and people dig it, but two times ago, I had to get a new rack for my engine (the thing that holds the engine; pretty important) and the last time I actually "needed" 4 new tires, but only got the two important ones replaced. so these instances have held me back for this fall and I'd love to try to put something together for Spring in terms of a tour, but again, there is much uncertainty.
Daddy's not giving up here. I've been writing in my down time and have a lot of new material. as I mentioned back in August, I've been trying to teach myself a bit of piano but it's slow going, but the piano songs are killer. I'd have to re-teach myself the piano song which I cut from the Low Carb LP after we finished recording. it was pretty embarassing once I listened to it a few times. but the idea and effort is there.
pretty soon I'm going to demo some new songs and put them up on the MySpace page. I'd like to give a quick shout-out to anyone who has sent me an e-mail in the last few months since the last tour, thanks for keeping in touch while I'm not doing my part.
It's been so long since I've posted up here that I don't know if anyone checks for updates anymore, but hello out there anyway.
I hope everyone had an enjoyable and relaxing holiday season as I have. go easy on the egg nog. and go easy on me next time I see you.
