... and a happy happy happy happy

Yeah so I’m co’ chillin’ on a jet plane right now. So that’s what a cruise is like, eh? Wow, was that fun. Not to rub it in or anything, but being my first cruise, I have to share the joy that I experienced the last seven days. When we left, I was pissed, because our flight was at 7am, and we didn’t go to bed until about 3:30am. So that didn’t leave much room for dreams. (which reminds me, I had this weird, crazy dream the other night, I hope I remember it for a while). So we catch the flight early, and luckily I was able to sleep for 90% of the flight to florida. We had to wait for some big greyhound bus to take us to the port, so I was taught a new card game called Egyptian rat screw (ERS for short). It was pretty fun, and I have never won. Kind of shameful actually. So we made it to the big ship, and went through all kinds of annoying forms, checkpoints, counters, and finally entered, hitting up the buffet as our first order of business… naturally. The sun wasn’t so prevalent early on, but it came out and we laid on the deck a lot, co’ chillin, drank frozen adult beverages, swam, hot-tubbed, ate like royalty, and it was great. We visited a couple of beautiful islands, st, Thomas, and st. marten. We were going to visit an island called pricess cays, except it recently disappeared from the map amidst the latest hurricane season. Bummer. And we heard about that tsunami while we were on the ship. It’s wicked sad what happened. This has just not been a good year for mother nature. She’s on much of the world’s shit lists right now, and well-deserved. Yeah, I said it. Oops, battery only has 6 minutes left. I’ll have to finish this one sooner than later.

now for the continuation. back in detroit... gearing up for what's sure to be a chill new year's for me. I'm going out, but don't plan to get ridiculously wasted or anything. for those who don't know. I'm not the most crazy night owl you'll ever meet. it's been known to happen, but it happens quite seldom. my friend's band is playing at a local place and it should be off the hizz-y. I'm not sure about my resolution yet, but I did catch a glimpse of the fitness bug throughout november, so it might have something to do with that. please share your resolutions, for those too lazy to establish one, it might help give them an idea...

I'm excited to be kicking off the new year with a straggler show at a college in Maine. it'll be a nice warm-up for the year to come. the years have just been flying by, but I have a feeling that they could move even quicker if things get busier...

so everyone party safe... and remember the motto: rock n roll-a, coca-cola

cruisin

in hopes that I will be doing a lot of cruising in the future, I wish all readers a happy holiday season. i'm pretty behind in my packing for the official 'cruise' which takes place on wednesday. with an early flight, my earliest that I can remember, and a sea journey for about a week. this is my first time hitting the sea. I've been in the ocean only a few times, but on both coasts. i've heard and read that there are so many things to do on these cruises... especially eating. I'm going to do my best to control this... maybe where some kind of collar that zaps me if I've already treated myself to the eating areas 3 times for the day. surely that would cost extra, the collar.

Also, I've been on haitus from my running regimen which spanned the month of november. it's unfortunate, but it's just too cold here for me to keep it up, and I could run indoors, but I just don't like running inside. I like to breathe fresh air, and have something to look at. so I hear they have a track on the ship, so I', going to bring my running shorts.

I'm going to be doing some crusing just after the new year also... I've got a random show at a college in Maine, which was the first place I ever went snow-shoeing. I don't know if I'll be able to do it again, but it should be like home for me in terms of weather, etc.

then in february, I get to fire up for what will hopefully be more than a one show engagement. well I know for a fact that it'll be for more than one show, but I'm still confirming so many of them, and it's my favorite time of year when I travel, and tour and play shows, and meet new and old peeps. I like especially like it when I come up with new quips, jokes, commentary, stories, to share with peeps. plus by that time there will be no more Lions football, so my spirits on sundays will be exceedingly higher than during the football season. joe harrington is depressed, and surely more than other fans are, but how can you not be depressed when you watch what happens week after week.

anyway, so I look forward to cruise #1 this week. it seems like everyone's been on a cruise before, except my and my siblings. now I'll have a story or eight to share. feel free to share your cruise stories with me, unless they're horror stories.

have a great quanzchrismakkah...

god bless the O.C.

oh by the way, on the cruise ship, they have a cruise "idol" competition, and I've officially taken my name out of the running for that one... even with pressure to participate... this position I will not budge on... fo sho'
